Mary Cheney & Her Lesbianic Home

Really, who is it out there that still finds some pride in being Republican? I’m sorry, but these days it seems to be a bastion of ignorance, intolerance and misguided anger. Fighting Health Care. And don’t tell me you simply don’t agree with Obama’s plan. I didn’t see any Republican’s trying to fix this nation’s health care problem under 8 years of Bush. No, I really don’t think the well-being of the American people is truly at the heart of today’s Republican Party.

Nor is Equal Rights and Freedom. Those crazy “liberal” notions. The intolerance of the Republican base is always astounding, though never surprising. I hate to paint in such broad strokes and often attempt to do otherwise, but when I see partisan politics overriding the well-being of a nation’s people, I get angry. And when I see the intolerance of hatred, on display any which way you turn these days, I get sick to my stomach.

Here are some comments from the conservative Free Republic website in reaction to the news that Dick Cheney’s daughter, Mary, and her long-time partner Heather Poe, are expecting another baby:

I respect Dick Cheney, but I don’t understand why he is allowing his daughter to take innocent children into her lesbianic home. Can anyone claim that these kids won’t be scarred for life? So sad.
Also repugnant, IMNSHO, is the use of “they are expecting a child” when, for obvious reasons “they” could not POSSIBLY have conceived. It is the slight of hand that the left does with rediculous name reversals (like “FAMILY PLANNING”) that implies something that in fact does just not happen…
As much as I don’t like it, God will have to sort this out in the end.
Who is the father? Yes, you selfish lesbians, there is ALWAYS a father. Not that the baby will benefit from one. sick.
I wonder if Hallmark makes a card for this occasion? Yathink? Congratulations on your baster bastard?

Are you talking about me or Mary Cheney? If you’re talking about me, you are probably one of those people history classes will teach kids about and shake their heads and talk of intolerance, small-mindedness, ignorance and fear. Which is a good thing as future generations need to learn from our mistakes. Thanks for adding top the conversation.

  2. Where is your tolerance of other peoples right to their beliefs? yeah thats what I thought. In fact I doubt you even have the “tolerance” to allow this to post.
Why don’t you just let people have their say and if you don’t agree or have some logical argument to make in opposition to their point, make it. Not just call people intolerant who disagree with you…..that intolerant sword cuts both ways. You seem to have some bigoted views against people who believe its best for a boy to have a mother AND A FATHER. …..Which is unarguably the truth

Firstly, Randel, I don’t limit who posts here and what they say. Secondly, I’m not against people who believe a father and a mother is a good thing for a child. I am, however, deeply opposed to people who think it is the only way to raise a child and that others do not deserve to have/raise children and that doing so is “unnatural.” Comments like “you selfish lesbians,” and “Congratulations on your baster bastard,” and “I don’t understand why he is allowing his daughter to take innocent children into her lesbianic home. Can anyone claim that these kids won’t be scarred for life?” or ““Also repugnant, IMNSHO, is the use of “they are expecting a child”,” come from a place of misunderstanding, misinformation and fear. They are not based in reality. This mode of thinking is geared toward not allowing homosexuals equal rights and has nothing, in reality, to do with the well-being of children. A mother and a father does not guarantee a loving home. Or even a healthy one. And there are many single parents out there, both straight and gay, doing incredible jobs of raising their children in a healthy happy home. And there are gay couples that are offering children love, education and happiness. If it was truly about the well-being of the children, then it would be about that. Offering children a loving, open environment; a place to grow and learn and love. And they can still have male and female role models in their lives, even if those are not their parents. If you think this is just a matter of opinion, then you are not being honest with yourself. Words like “repugnant” and “scarred” show a complete lack of education on the subject of parenting.
