The Global Murder of Julian Assange and the Death of Western Social Justice

We stand on the precipice of collapse. What were once considered basic freedoms and democratic laws have been chipped away by a two-party system trying desperately to stave off the unavoidable implosion of neoliberal capitalism. This – America’s current system of government (and that of much of the West) – has cannibalised society as a whole. This already-destructive behaviour was escalated, normalised and empowered by both the 9/11 attacks which were used by the U.S. as an excuse to gain more societal and global control, and by the media circus surrounding Donald Trump and the wide-spread Clinton Campaign-instigated conspiracy theory known as Russiagate. These events and the American government’s (and media’s) response to them calculatingly indoctrinated citizens into fearing newly-ressurected boogiemen coming, once again, to steal their democracy. All while democracy was being systematically dismantled by the very accusers themselves.

The illegal extradition and persecution of journalist Julian Assange is one of the premier examples of not only the lawlessness and seemingly endless power of the U.S., but of the rest of the Western World’s willingness to either remain silent or become violent collaborators. This is not an attack on one man, but on the very institution of journalism, free-speech and any remaining semblance of democracy still swirling around the edges of the drain of intolerance and charade that has systematically sucked dry the American constitution and any pretence of human rights, ethics or justice in the Western judicial system.

We are in free-fall.

I highly recommend this Chris Hedges interview with former British Ambassador Craig Murray on what appears to be the imminent extradition to the U.S. of Julian Assange.
